The writing in this book is beautiful, elegant, and masterful. It was enchanting and kept me riveted to the tale. The story came alive as I was reading the words, filling my mind and my soul with the poetical prose laced with Christian themes. This is everything I have always sought for in a Christian fantasy book, and something I have rarely seen pulled off with such excellence.
Though there are religious overtones, this book is not preachy. It is a tale of adventure with strong female protagonists...I so enjoyed the book, that I quickly purchased the sequel, wanting to know what happens next to the young girls. I highly recommend Journey to Aviad to those who enjoy allegorical tales set in medieval times.
I was pleasantly surprised by this book, beautifully written and lyrical. Even when I set the book down to attend to my daily grind, thoughts of Elowyn and her plight followed me until I could open it again to continue her tale. The prologue drew me in, young Elowyn and her sister Morganne held me close, and now curiosity for what will become of them draws me to the next book, Ancient Voices: Into the Depths.
