A one-hour panel with four outstanding FROM SCHTICK TO SCRIPT alumni on their experiences in the Canadian TV comedy writing trenches.  Panelists include:


ZOE WHITTALL, a novelist and screenwriter with credits on DEGRASSI: THE NEXT GENERATION, THE BARONESS VON SKETCH SHOW, CRAWFORD, SCHITT'S CREEK and more. Her latest book is The Spectacular.

KRIS SIDDIQI, an award winning comedian, actor and writer based in Toronto. Creator of the multi-award winning miniseries BIT PLAYAS, which won two Canadian Screen Awards for Best Writing and Best Series, and a Minnesota WebFest Award for Best Representation of Communities of Color, Kris is an alumni of world renowned The Second City Toronto (2008-2010) and a regular on CBC’s comedy news panel BECAUSE NEWS.


IAN MacINTYRE, who has written on the satirical news show THE BEAVERTON, DEGRASSI: NEXT CLASS (for which he won a WGC award), and numerous animated comedies including BYUTV’s upcoming SAVING ME. He’s developed original series for Nickelodeon, CBC, and recently co-wrote a stage adaptation of Chris Hadfield's THE DARKEST DARK for Toronto's Young People's Theatre.

RICHARD YOUNG, an Indo-Caribbean screenwriter/actor who's written on OVERLORD AND THE UNDERWOODS (CBC/Nickelodeon), DINO RANCH (CBC/Disney+) and 16 HUDSON (TVO). He’s also a Just For Laughs ComedyPRO Pitch Finalist and ScreenCraft Sci-Fi and Fantasy Screenwriting Competition Finalist.

The event will be moderated by DANIELA SAIONI, story editor, punch-up artist, and creator of the From Schtick to Script training program. As a screenwriter, she has won 12 awards and honours including Grand Prize at WE Screenplay Diverse Voices (Spring 2021) and Best Screenplay & Best Fresh Voice at the Toronto Female Eye Film Festival (2019).
