Hugo Reid is participating in a national art competition organized by the PTSA, where our students can be recognized for their skills in one of six creative areas:
Dance Choreography, Film Production, Literature, Music Composition, Photography, and Visual Arts.

Students can select from the following categories to create art work in.
This is the act of designing and arranging movements in dances. The choreographer/ student submitting the entry can be a performer, but does not have to perform in the entry. They simply need to be the choreographer, and can have others performing in their choreographed entry.
This is the process of making a film. The producer/student submitting the entry is not required to appear in the film, but if the student chooses to, a camera or tripod can be used. All screenwriting, directing, camera filming and editing must be done by the student submitting the entry.
This is the art of writing. The author/student submitting the entry is a person who expresses his or her own thoughts and ideas by using words. Authors need to submit a single literary work (handwritten or typed), using grade appropriate, grammar, punctuation, and spelling.
This is the process of creating a new musical piece. The composer/student submitting the entry is a person who expresses their thoughts and ideas by sound. Composers may submit an entry performed by an individual or group, or make use of a digital sound library. They are not required to perform their composition.
This is the process of capturing an image. The photographer/ student submitting the entry is a person who captures their thoughts and ideas with a camera. By focusing on objects (using various lenses, filters and light sources) photographers may demonstrate the use of photographic techniques, conventionally, or digitally.
This includes many art forms that are visual in nature. The artist/ student submitting the entry is a person who uses their thoughts and ideas to create a visual piece of art. Excepted forms include both 2-D and 3-D works such as ceramics, collages, drawings, paintings, sculptures, digital designs, etc.

Students submitting artwork have the opportunity to be recognized, have their artwork showcased, and receive awards.
Entries will be judged primarily on how well a student uses their artistic vision to portray the theme with originality and creativity.

🌟 National-level Outstanding Interpretation honorees are recognized at the National PTSA Convention, plus their artwork, along with any National Award of Excellence and Merit winners, are featured in Reflections’ popular traveling national exhibit. 🌟
