When a shepherd returns home with a bite mark and becomes violent, the village elders are consumed with worry. They send Judas, the fastest boy in the village, to get aid.

Judas thinks the elders are overreacting. After all, the stories of an undead army, raised by a high priestess of the Goddess of Death, are only tall tales.

But when Judas diverts from his urgent errand to earn a few extra coins from a Roman soldier, he finds himself facing monsters straight out of a nightmare.
