This iconoclastic first generation professional has navigated 14 job titles, eight industries and three careers over a 24 year period, so she is well versed in the constant need to reinvent oneself to meet the changing demands of the working world. As The Wholeness Guide, Cheryl Benadie’s mission in life is to inspire professionals to be whole, free and future fit.
After a decade in higher education, primarily raising funds for bursaries for first generation students, she developed key insights into the workplace training needs of graduates.
The current alarming suicide rates among 15-24 year olds is an imperative to address the whole person in preparing young people for a turbulent future.
Cheryl is passionate about wholeness because she knows the pain of brokenness (feeling disconnected from your potential and power). She faced long-term trauma caused by domestic violence, sexual violence, intimate partner violence and spiritual abuse. Her first book, The Wholeness Revolution, is a non-fiction memoir of a personal journey to wholeness.
Sadly, her story is not unique in the South African context. No one wants to talk about abuse – and therein lies its power. She made the decision to raise her voice and speak into the realities of gender based violence. People who have suffered abuse are not condemned to live from a place of brokenness. They can heal and grow and reach their highest potential.
She is determined to share her story from a place of not just surviving the past but resilience developed through adversity.
